History Lesson with Booze: Otto Witte and the “King of Albania”
This week in 1959 Otto Witte, an illiterate circus magician who impersonated the King of Albania, died. We celebrate his con — or at least his imagination — with a “Ranglum” cocktail dressed up in King’s clothing.

Behave like royalty (i.e. Be oblivious to the plight of the common man, have an affair, and stop smiling)

Guest of Honor: Josie Long
This week’s Guest of Honor is British comedienne Josie Long — one of a new generation of indie-comedians in England who are as comfortable playing rock venues as they are the BBC.

Speaking of the BBC, they converted her recent show “All the Planet’s Wonders” into a dazzling podcast produced by Colin Anderson. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available online. We think you should email them to protest! Meanwhile, Google her name every once in a while and watch her rise in prominence.

Main Course: Peruvian saltado
Peruvian is the hot ethnic cuisine of 2010: Pisco Sours are all the rage. Ceviche is the new sushi. But what’s up with the french fries in the stir fry?

One for the Road: Atlas Sound’s “Walkabout”
A song to play on your way to — or departing from — this weekend’s dinner parties.

This time around: What do you get when you cross a Deerhunter with a Panda Bear? Partly cloudy Beach Boys beat pop. Atlas Sound is the side project of Bradford Cox of ambient punk band Deerhunter. On this track he is joined by Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear one of the mad geniuses behind Animal Collective. Panda Bear’s sunny sensibility is offset by Cox’s fixation with all things spooky. This song is perfectly tailored to be played at dusk.
