FAQ

What does my ticket cover?

Your ticket guarantees you dinner and a seat at the “Look Up and Listen!” live program. It does not include admission to Lassen Volcanic National Park, nor does it include alcohol at the event.

There is always a $20 admission fee to Lassen Volcanic National Park per car (exact pricing for cars, motorcycles, and foot traffic can be found here).

Beer and wine will be sold by the Lassen Volcanic National Park concessioner. Please make sure to bring an ID if you plan to imbibe.

I’m from out of town. Can I do this as a day trip?

Depending on how far you’re traveling, this can certainly be a day trip. But because the program ends late in the evening, and it would be a long drive home late at night, it’s probably a good idea to find somewhere to spend at least Saturday night.

Lodging in the cities around Lassen Volcanic National Park is limited, so if you are traveling in for the event, we suggest you book your stay soon. Here are the lodging suggestions from the Park.

There are also a number of walk-up campsites available at Lassen itself. You can find more information about Lassen camping here, and the closest walk-up sites to the event here.

What should I be prepared for?

We’ll be at a higher elevation, and the mountains in the dark can get cold. We recommend you wear layers so you can bundle up as the sun sets. We’ll also be seated in an amphitheater, which means benches. It might be a good idea to bring a blanket or pillow to soften your seat, or even bring your own camp chair!

Please note the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center and Amphitheater is located about 30 minutes from Mineral, CA, via the Southwest entrance on Highway 89. Weather and road construction may cause traffic delays around and in the park.

Avoiding Highway 36 from Red Bluff into the park is recommended.
Additional road closure information can be found here.

It sounds so fun but I don’t live in California. Are you planning any other events like this?

Can’t make it? We’ll be sharing a blueprint for throwing your own dinner party soon! Check back.
