Listener Letters: Jeopardy Players Buzz In

We hear back from our listeners about the word we've been pronouncing wrong for a while, why it's OK for "Jeopardy" contestants to compete in amateur trivia tournaments, and more.

This week, we took a moment to gaze into the dark heart of our mailbag/inbox/voicemail aka listener comments.

First up Carl from Dearborn Michigan chides Rico and Brendan for their pronunciation of “restaurateur.” Duly noted, Carl.

A few weeks back we also managed to enrage the Jeopardy contestant community when we interviewed the Golden Globe-winning star of the TV show “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” Rachel Bloom. We were discussing whether it was unfair for Jeopardy champs to play amateurs at bar trivia. That conversation touched off a minor Twitter backlash from Jeopardy contestants. One of the folks we offended chimed in.

Finally, we recently aired the first edition of our series “Menu Mysteries,” in which we investigate unique ingredients on a new restaurant menu. One of which was a fudge-like Norwegian cheese called Gjetost. That inspired a lovely memory from a listener named Gail in Nappanee, Indiana.
